To: All Nevada Citizens

I want to thank all of you who voted for me in the past. I will continue to work even harder for all of you in the future.

I am Gloria Bonaventura. I am 44 years old and I have been a resident of Clark County for over 12 years. Some of you already know me but for those of you who don't.

I was elected in 2008 to the Nevada State Board of Education in District 1 and am currently serving a 4-year term on the Nevada State Board of Education in District 1.

In the last legislative session and as a result of SB197 and negotiations between Governor Sandoval and leaders of the Legislature, many changes were made to the Nevada State Board of Education and how members are chosen. Governor Sandoval and some leaders of the Legislature have taken away your right to elect these members. Now, with the new changes, most of the elected members of the State Board of Education are going to be appointed by the Governor. It's not every day that you see blatant conflicts of interest and separation of powers encroachments written into state law.

I am a life long Democrat and will continue to serve our community as an Elected member of the Nevada State Board of Education in District 1.  I promise that I will not be a part of the problem, but part of the solution.

I received my Masters Degree in Computer Engineering and Management Information Systems from the world-renowned National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) one of the largest and most important private, nonsectarian and coeducational multiple-campus universities in Latin America with over 91,000 students at high school, undergraduate and postgraduate level. The Institute has 33 campuses in 25 cities and is known for becoming the first university ever connected to the Internet in Latin America and the Spanish-speaking world, having one of the top graduate business schools in the region.

I worked in supervisory and management positions from 1990 to 2000 in the largest bank in Latin America, BBVA Bancomer bank, with US$23.5 billion in assets and 1,245 branches, Bancomer provides a wide range of banking services - from retail to corporate to government banking. Bancomer serves over eight million customers and almost 20 million accounts, and acquires an average of 189,000 new customers per month.

We need people who are knowledgeable, with the experience and education to get the job done!

Thank you for letting me earn your vote!

I thank all of you who elected me in the past and I promise I won't let you down, now or in the future!

Sincerely,

Gloria Bonaventura
